On a salad run with the BF, I mentioned to him that I feel like I lost my “glow.” I simply do not sparkle like I did this time last year. I mean, even HE made the comment on a date to grab ice cream last year that I seem to “glow.” Yep, those were his words.
I thought maybe it’s my age (Hello 30!), stress from work, my fading tan, lack of vitamin D—the real kind. I even prayed about it this morning!
The BF said maybe it’s because last year I was single, going out often and constantly hearing affirmation of my greatness from different voices. Maybe?
On my commute home after our conversation, a man in a nice suit rushes by me. We’re both trying to catch our buses. He stops.
“You’re pretty. Very pretty.”
He says it as a matter fact, not as a come on.
I thank him and we get on our separate buses. I text the BF.
“Maybe I haven’t lost my glow.”
“Did someone say something to you?”
I start to write back about my fellow commuter’s comment, but stopped myself because I want us to remain on our blissful “we made it through year 1” cloud. I write back.
“No. I was just thinking.”
